Since taking office as Hillsborough County Property Appraiser in 2013, it has been my goal to ensure my office assesses properties in a transparent, fair and accurate. I am also committed to offering the citizens of our county outstanding customer service and making the processes of my office easily accessible to the public
Here are some of my key points to ensure I continue to serve you in the best possible manner:

 
  • Continue to ensure that property assessments are fair and accurate. I have a proven track record of ensuring that property assessments are fair and accurate. I have worked tirelessly to implement new technology and processes to improve the accuracy of assessments, including the use of desktop property assessment and aerial imagery, to save taxpayers thousands of dollars in the cost of fulfilling my office's statutory duties .
  • Make the property assessment process more transparent and accessible to the public. I believe that the property assessment process should be transparent and accessible to the public. I have worked to make the property assessment process more transparent by providing more information to the public about how assessments are made and a modern, easy-to-use website. I have also worked to make the property assessment process more accessible by providing more ways for the public to contact the Property Appraiser's Office with questions or concerns, including a new communications/telephone system, live chat on our website and the use of social media.
  • Protect homeowners from over-assessment and ensure everyone receives the property tax deductions entitled to them by law. I am committed to protecting homeowners from over-assessment. I have worked to implement new policies and procedures to help homeowners understand the how their property is assessed, including the creation of a Citizen Liaison who can assist them with their unique questions and needs. I have also reached out to homeowners in numerous public forums to help property owners understand how my office operates, how they can apply for exemptions that help lower their assessment and help them understand how to appeal an assessment if they believe it is unfair.
